About Me

Hello! My name is Dolly. I started to teach English to children at my neighbourhood 12 years ago. Some parents persuaded me to teach their children when they found out that my daughter was reading and writing before her fourth birthday. She sat for the Cambridge IGCSE examinations in 2008 when she was 14.

Over the years I have come across the same major problem among students from elementary and high schools. They are worried about writing compositions. The reason why a student cannot write a composition is simply because he or she does not have adequate knowledge of the English grammar to make a sentence.

My lessons are designed to teach students to learn, step by step, the basic English grammar and the usage of the language. They are intended for beginners who are learning English as a second or third language. My lessons are also intended for students who have some familiarity with English but still have certain problems with some basic grammar points, or who need reference and practice.

The English grammar has many rules. It is very important to learn all the basic rules before we move on to more complicated ones. Some students in high schools are still confused about using ‘is’ and ‘are’, ‘was’ and ‘were’ and ‘has, have and had’ because they have not mastered the basic English grammar properly.

In each lesson, I address the explanations to the students and, therefore, they are as simple and as short as possible. I hope you will have fun visiting my blog. If you find it uneasy to write a comment, go to ‘contact me’ where it is confidential between you and me.

    Hi, Dolly.

For the purpose of knowledge dissemination, may I contribute something academic in your blog? I am majoring in TESL

    • dollyfong

      Hello Chee Kheong,

Thank you for visiting my blog. I welcome your proposal to contribute in my blog, but before we proceed,
I would like to know what do you have in mind precisely. And I also welcome the opportunity of discussion
to work out a suitable plan which will be mutually beneficial. May I ask if this is some kind of assignment
      from your TESL?

  5. Dolly,
What a wonderful gift you are giving by sharing your knowledge with all of us. I will share your blog with those I know so we can spread the word about your site.

I just wanted to let you know that I agree with IJ; the illustrations are a great addition to the blog and your daughter is incredibly talented.

  6. Excuse me. Would you please tell me where do you live? Your country? I search your ‘about me’. I know you are an English teacher, but I don’t know where you live. I am interested in you blog which is full of English, no mother language at all.

      Hi Tiha,

Thank you for visiting my blog. My lessons covers all the essentials of grammar that are basic to the learning of the English language. They are intended for students who are learning English as a second language. I address the explanations to the students and, therefore, they are as simple and as short as possible. If you encounter any problem, feel free to write to me. I am sorry I do not use another language to explain my lessons.
