| We use the present continuous when we have a plan to do something. |
Look at the examples:
I am going to the movies on Sunday.
Are you going out this evening?
We are meeting our friends tomorrow.
What are they doing this weekend?
Dad is staying home tonight.
Mom is having tea with her friends this afternoon.
Sarah is having her exams on Monday. She is not going out this weekend.
| We use the simple present for timetables, trains, programs, schedules, etc.: |
The movie starts at 8:30.
The train departs at 6:15.
What time does the train leave?
My class begins at 8 o’clock.
What time does your class begin?
The shops open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 9:00 p.m.
My dad starts work at 9:00 a.m. and finishes at 6:00 p.m.
