Exercise 76 Complete the sentences with am/is/are/was/were. Some sentences are present and some are past. Example: The children ____ thrilled when they opened their presents. The children were thrilled when they opened their presents.

We make questions by changing the order of the words. We put was or were before the subject. Here are some examples:

To find out if an action happened in the past, we make questions using the word did. Did is the past form of do. It tells us it is the simple past time. Let’s look at some examples:
