16.3 Actions that people and things are doing

We use the present continuous time to say something which we have already planned. It is a form of future time. Here the actions are not taking place while we are speaking, but they will.

Here are some examples:

1 We are having chicken for dinner tonight.
2 Dad is taking us for a movie on Sunday.
3 My brother is leaving for New York tomorrow.
4 I am giving some of my toys away.
5 Mr and Mrs Lou are coming for dinner tonight.
6 Sarah is taking her exams next month.
7 My neighbours are moving to a bigger house.
8 I am seeing my dentist next week.
