16.2 Actions that people and things are doing

We often use the simple present time and present continuous time together when we speak about two actions which are happening at the same time.
We use the present continuous time for the action which started first.

1st action

1 Take an umbrella. It is raining.
2 Mom is busy. She is ironing.
3 I can’t eat. I am not feeling well.
4 Don’t talk to me. I am trying to do my work.
5 Hurry up! The taxi is waiting.
6 Switch off the TV. No one is watching.
7 Listen! Someone is calling for help.
8 Look at me! I am standing on my hands.
9 Look over there! A lion is chasing a deer.
10 Look at the kitten. It is playing with its tail.
