| In Lesson 11, we studied the primary verb am, is and are. In this lesson, we use them as helping verbs with other action words or verbs to form the present continuous time. |
| When we see rain falling from the sky, we say: It is raining. We use ‘is‘ before the verb ‘rain’. Without the helping verb ‘is’, we cannot add ‘ing’ to the verb ‘rain’. We use two words to make the verb in the present continuous time.

| The action of raining is taking place at the present time and it is still raining at the time of speaking. The action of raining is temporary, so we use the present continuous time to talk about it. Here are some examples of temporary actions:
