15.1 Negative simple present time
In Lesson 13 we studied the primary verb do. In this lesson, the verb do is used as a helping verb.
We add do not or does not before a verb to make a negative sentence in the simple present time. We use does not for a 3rd person singular.
When we speak, we often use the short forms: don’t instead of do not and doesn’t instead of does not. However, it is not advisable to use contractions in exams or formal writing.
